Fresher Party at Doaba Group of Colleges, Campus-I

Near here, a freshers’ party was organised at Doaba Group of Colleges, Campus -I, Ghataur. The students of 2nd, 3rd and 5th semester B. Tech., of DIET, DWIET and Pharmacy welcomed the freshers. The MBA 2nd year students of Doaba Business School, welcomed BBA, BCA and MBA students. All the students including the students of B.Ed. participated in a big way. A cultural programme was presented by the students which included songs, dances and folklore of Himachal and Punjab. The unique quality of this cultural function was that the students from Kashmir to Kanyakumari presented best of their culture. Giddha of B.Ed., Bhangra of DIET and Natti comprising the students of all the colleges were given cash prizes for their best performances.
Chief guest for the day was Mr. Avinash Rai Khanna, Member Rajya Sabha and the guest of honour was Dr. N.P. Singh, Dean, Distance Education, PTU Jalandhar.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Avinash Rai Khanna, Member Rajya Sabha, exhorted the students to take active part in saving the environment by taking up activities like plantation of trees and saving a bucket of water each day.
Dr. N.P. Singh advised the students to take keen interest in academics as they have shown in the performance of cultural activities.
The Chief Guest was welcomed by Dr. H. S. Bath, President, Doaba Khalsa Trust and Dr. N.P. Singh by Mr. Manjit Singh, Executive Vice Chairman, Doaba Group of Colleges. In his speech Mr. Manjit Singh, highlighted the progress made by Doaba Group of Colleges in the last thirteen years. Welcoming the freshers, Mr. Manjit Singh appraised them with the basic principles of Doaba Group of Colleges and said that Doaba Group of Colleges believes in never say die spirit and hard work is the mantra”, vehemently reiterating that no one dies of hard work. He gave the success story of placement of over one thousand students well placed during the session 2009-2010, in joint placement drives held at campus by big MNCs naming a few like, Infosys, IBM, Accenture, etc.
In the end, Mr. Jeet Singh, Chief Administrator, Doaba Group of Colleges, announced cash awards of Rs.5100/-, Rs.3100/- and Rs.2100/- for the first second and third positions in cultural activities respectively. On this occasion about forty students, who had secured above 85% marks in their semester examination were honored and given cash awards of Rs.8100/- each.
Besides, Mr. M.S. Bath, Chairman Doaba Group of Colleges, Mr. S.S. Sangha, Managing Vice Chairman Doaba Group of Colleges, all the trusties and parents of freshers attended the function which was followed by the lunch.
